Airly coal mine in the Capertee Valley . The Capertee Valley is the widest enclosed canyon and the second largest canyon in the world, second only to the Grand Canyon in the USA. Capertee National Park is located approximately 115 kilometres north of Lithgow in the Central West region of the state of New South Wales, Australia.
